Unable to remove threading portion of tub drain. Followed instructions & thread cross pieces broke & bent.?

Unable to access overflow & drain pipe. Anyone have any advice/ideas on how to remove the old thread?
what type of blade for the hacksaw?
Thanks all, I used a vise grip to peel the lip, then tapped between the threadings with a flathead screw driver & peeled out the remainder of the drain. Fast & easy. (my hacksaw blades were too dull.)

Yes, have done this many times , you have to use a small hand held hack saw with the one blade , then saw until you get through the treads then peel it out.
